What does this novel mean to you?
This novel is about an impression of loss. It's about the ghost in the room. A sin that you can't escape from. Proudly, it is a study into the metaphysics of absent love. Purgatorium is like a lucid dream filled with feelings of sadness and regrets. It's Solitary atmosphere brings unknown dimensions to this world almost like learning to live in the wilderness.
What is Purgatorium?
Purgatorium can’t be described without understanding the full details of its existence and how it works. It all starts with you and when I mean you, I mean your soul.
To ease you in slowly, let’s get down to basic knowledge first. The soul and the spirit are the two primary immaterial parts of your humanity. It can be confusing to attempt to discern the precise differences between the two. The soul and the spirit are connected, but separable. The word soul can refer to both the immaterial and material aspects of humanity. You still with me?
That’s the spirit!
Speaking of spirit. The word spirit refers only to the immaterial facet of humanity. Examples are needed.
God is a spirit.
The devil is a spirit.
Demons are spirits.
And You are a spirit.
You take up no space. You have no volume. You have no mass. You are a consciousness contained in a bit of energy. Science has long known that the world, all matter, from rocks to human beings is just energy. Now all spirits have the ability to manipulate physical energy. Your Self, your spirit, You, manipulates energy to form a tool that allows You to experience the physical reality. That tool is your physical body. Your physical body is not You. Your physical body is no more than some little earrings that hang beside Your head.
Your spirit energy cannot experience the physical reality. It can’t taste a juicy steak. It can’t smell a rose. It can’t smile. Our spirits have constructed physical bodies as tools to experience the physical reality. Spirits need to and want to have a physical form.
Beyond the essential meaning, the Bible speaks of the soul in many contexts. One of these is in relation to humanity’s eagerness to sin. Human beings have a sinful nature, and our souls are tainted with sin. Who feed us these sins? Our own Demons.
I know what your thinking. Demons no more exist than the tooth fairy. Your one of those have to see it to believe it types. But that’s the thing how do you know that when you see another soul like you that it’s not just a human possessed? They are a cancer that won’t stop until they get what they desire. So what do they desire?
Well Demons don’t have the ability to manifest into human form. And yet, they desire to experience a physical reality. Of course the most efficient living organism with which to experience the physical reality is a human body.
Demon spirits take up no room, have no mass, their can actually be several demons inside a single human being. Demons are just energy and cannot experience the physical reality without physical form. So, one of the ways they reach this objective is by inhabiting living organisms by way of comatose victims.
But not all Comatose victims, once awake, are demons.
Now let’s go back to the soul of a human being. The soul, as the life essence of the body, is removed either at time of physical death or by comatose. If by comatose, then the soul can be locked away inside their own human mind. Purgatorium. A prison like construct where a soul can get a second chance at life.
In this prison, the soul is stuck with a specific routine that is assigned to their greatest weakness in their past life.
Creatures known as reapers are the law enforcement that maintain order. If a soul goes off script in any way the reaper will erase their memories and set them back on their regular routine.
But being a soul isn’t all bad. There are perks! While being just a ball of energy, a soul can manipulate the structure of their own soul. Which means they can mirror different appearances than their own and have the ability to self-heal.
A souls demon spirit also lives in this prison and it only thrives to want one thing...the original souls physical form. Their human vessel. And the only way to escape and go back up to the souls physical reality is if the spiritual soul can beat their demon at their own game.
A soul must choose to either become a soul survivor or a lost soul.
The game is formed from sins and/or challenges the soul had faced in his/her past life. If the soul gives up and doesn’t want to continue on then its demon has a chance to finish the game. If the soul decides to play to win they are considered to be soul survivors. Souls that want a second chance at life.
Once a demon wins and enters the human vessel the soul’s Purgatorium collapses, leaving the soul to become a lost soul. A soul that is completely detached from its vessel and forever stuck inside the coma verse.
The lost soul has the ability to travel to different Purgatorium‘s and visit with other souls or lost souls. They will continue this constant cycle until the time comes where their physical body in the outside world becomes deceased.
